The community of family means something different to everyone.  When tenuous relationships within a family are stretched to breaking point, it’s often best to receive outside help in repairing them.

In this situation, a restorative approach was the starting point for repairing and transforming a fractured relationship between a father and his adult son.

Restorative Practice Facilitators provided a safe environment for the family members involved to really listen to what was needed to be said.  In this format they each gained a new understanding of the other’s needs, acknowledged their part in the problem and took responsibility in resolving the issues.  The family themselves were able to came up with their own solutions which they couldn’t reach on their own due to their strong emotional involvement.
